What is a an ePortfolio?

My professor Dwayne Harapnuik says "An eportfolio is not just a digital file cabinet where one shows how many dots they have collected- it is the domain of one's own where the student reveals their learning journey and shows through reflection, speculation, and documentation all the meaningful connections they have made." This is my second to last course before I graduate and my eportfolio has helped me create a space to showcase the dots I have collected along the way. I would define the eportfolio as a meaningful presentation of my abilities to research, create, write, and defend my ideas as an educator.

My experience building an eportfolio has been a meaningful one. From the first moment I began to pick a website builder, I was already thinking of how this tool can help paint an accurate picture of who I am as an educator to a future employer or my students. I chose my layout, my videos, and all my content carefully and worked a tad harder on every assignment that I knew would be added to my eportfolio. After my a couple of courses, I shared my eportfolio with my family and friends. They couldn't have been prouder. After being more than half way through my course work, they were finally able to see how hard I had been working and felt even more confidence in me. Looking back, I think it was really hard work trying to translate all my thoughts about education into a project. I feel that this has really prepared me be an innovator in education and I hope to continue to add to it for the rest of my career.
